Uniarts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy welcomes applications for the master’s programmes in Choreography; Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research; Dance Performance; and Live Art and Performance Studies. Studies begin in August 2023.

Choreography
The focus of the programme is on current approaches and methodological questions in choreography and performance, discourses on society and art, as well as on the work environment of an artist. As a student of the programme your own artistic projects play an important role, as well as collaborations with students from other degree programmes. Learn more about the programme. Admissions guide.

Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research (CDPR)
The double-degree programme offers students a unique opportunity to experience distinctly different forms of dramaturgical thinking and performance cultures. This model enables a comparative approach to dramaturgical practice and theory. Learn more about the programme. Admissions guide.

Dance Performance
The programme opens time and space for a diverse exploration of performance practices within the frameworks of dance and related contemporary art forms. The programme emphasizes artistic research orientated approach towards dance performance and embodied practices. Learn more about the programme. Admissions guide.

Live Art and Performance Studies (LAPS)
The programme combines critical thinking with experimentation in artistic work and artistic research. As a student you will be empowered to develop and activate new knowledge of performance and its theory. Learn more about the programme. Admissions guide.

Studies
Art, performances, education and research are in constant interaction with each other at Uniarts Helsinki. Acquiring a set of skills is the foundation to build off of, but the ultimate goal is to develop students’ critical thinking and artistry. All international MA programmes at Uniarts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy consist of two years of full-time studies and require onsite attendance.

Applying
We welcome applications between January 4–18, 2023 (ending at 3pm local Finnish time on the last day). The programmes are open to international students and are tuition free for EU/EEA citizens or citizens of Switzerland. We offer scholarships and waivers for those who are required to pay tuition fees.

The application process includes an electronic application and advance assignments, as well as entrance examinations. Applicants are not required to travel to Helsinki at any point of the selection process.
