Computation in Architecture is an international two-year Master of Arts in Architecture education that explores the critical consideration of technology as a driver for thinking, forming, and realizing architecture. With specific focus on advanced modelling, biomaterials, smart sensing and robotic fabrication, the program fosters a dynamic, creative, intellectually rigorous and design-led environment that stimulates critical inquiry into issues of sustainability, site, structure, behavior, materiality and architectural expression. Students entering the program develop research-based design approaches to foster expertise and situated knowledge in the concepts, technological trajectories and practices that will drive future practice.
Computation in Architecture is embedded within CITA: Centre for IT and Architecture, an internationally renowned innovative research center, and closely connected to a wider community of computational design in architectural practice. The program is taught by active CITA researchers and shares the center’s resources, including an advanced suite of computational tools, the robotics lab, the bio-lab, and state of the art research knowledge. As a student joining the program, you will be able to position yourself at the forefront of innovation in design-computation, material systems, sustainability and robotic fabrication.
