Ignite your passion for Brazilian art as SP-Arte proudly presents the second edition of Rotas Brasileiras. This awe-inspiring event, set to take place from August 30 to September 3 at ARCA in São Paulo, is an extraordinary celebration of Brazil’s rich and diverse artistic heritage. With an exceptional lineup of carefully curated projects presented by 70 participating galleries (check the list here), Rotas Brasileiras promises an immersive experience into the Brazilian artistic scene.

Prepare to be captivated by the extraordinary fusion of the past, present, and future of Brazilian art. The curated projects selected for the fair transcend boundaries and embrace both local and global perspectives, intertwining tradition with a dynamic, forward-thinking approach. As we navigate the vibrant tapestry of Brazilian customs and cultures, Rotas Brasileiras emerges as a testament to the ever-evolving nature of artistic expression. It amplifies diverse voices, showcasing the remarkable contributions of women, Black, Indigenous, and queer artists who are reshaping the artistic landscape.

Embark on a transformative journey that redefines conventional notions of academic and popular art, the mainstream and the marginalized, commercial and institutional. The fair is an invitation to step into the intricate cosmovision of multiple “Brazils” and witness the harmonious coexistence of art’s diverse realms.

Renowned art galleries such as Almeida & Dale, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Gomide&Co, Millan, and Vermelho converge alongside visionary younger galleries like Central, HOA, Jaqueline Martins, Sé and Verve. Moreover, the event transcends the traditional Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo axis, inviting galleries such as Cerrado (Goiânia), Lima (São Luís do Maranhão), Marco Zero (Recife), Mitre (Belo Horizonte), and Paulo Darzé (Salvador) to participate, ensuring a much welcome convergence of artistic brilliance.

Diversity takes center stage in the careful selection of artists and showcased artworks. Explore the Afro-Brazilian cultural roots in the works of Ayrson Heráclito (Paulo Darzé), selected for the 35th Bienal of São Paulo. Marvel at Erika Verzutti’s (Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel) groundbreaking explorations in sculpture, while Heitor dos Prazeres (Almeida & Dale) transports you to the vibrant samba rhythms and suburban life of Rio de Janeiro. Jaider Esbell (Millan) invites you to delve into the profound cosmology of indigenous cultures and uncover other artistic wonders.

Beyond the gallery displays, Rotas Brasileiras encompasses a multifaceted program featuring special projects that push artistic boundaries. Immerse yourself in the world of Dalton Paula’s Sertão Negro, a captivating studio and art school. Engage in artist conversations, embark on guided tours, and expand your artistic horizons with audio guides, all meticulously designed to enrich your journey through art.

Meanwhile, at Casa SP-Arte, a permanent exhibition space of the fair, the spotlight falls on Maxwell Alexandre, a pivotal figure in contemporary art. Unveiling approximately 20 unseen works, his exhibition challenges societal norms and explores the powerful notion of black individuals reclaiming their spaces in galleries and museums.

We invite you to join us for Rotas Brasileiras, between August 30 and September 3, just before the preview of the 35th Bienal de São Paulo.

If you wish to continue exploring virtually, you will have the opportunity to do so at our websitesocial media or by downloading our app.
