With around 2100 students, the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is one of the leading art universities in Europe. We offer a wide range of degree and research programmes, which include the fields of design, film, fine arts, music, dance, theatre, art education and transdisciplinary studies.

The Department of Fine Arts is seeking to appoint a:

Head of Studies Bachelor of Fine Arts, 80–100 percent
Start date: Spring Semester 2024 (February 1, 2024) or by arrangement. As Director of Studies for the Bachelor of Fine Arts programme, you will be responsible for the continuous development of the programme and the curriculum in connection with the research of the profile background of the department and the ZHdK, as well as for positioning teaching within the framework of national and international developments within the field of contemporary art. You will ensure the quality of teaching and manage the programme in terms of content and organisation. In addition, you will take on a teaching commitment of approximately ten percent. 

We are looking for proactive personalities with a university degree in artistic or curatorial practice and several years of teaching experience at international art universities as well as management experience in the art or higher education sector. You are familiar with the context of art universities in Switzerland and the “state-of-the art” in international art education. You are able to argue and act at the level of educational policy guidelines, and you have proven your leadership skills in a comparable function.

We expect:
–A university or academy degree in the field of art or art history of the 20th and 21st century
–Active artistic or curatorial practice at an international level
–Senior level of teaching and research experience at an art university, academy or comparable institution
–International networking in the field of art academia and in the field of arts
–Leadership experience and financial responsibility in the art university sector or in the art sector in general
–Initiative, ability to engage in dialogue, integration and teamwork
–Willingness to work on committees
–Language skills: German (C2) and English (C1), written and spoken

Place of work: Zurich. The interviews will take place on the October 16–17, 2023, and on November 8, 2023 (second interview).
