Gallery Weekend Berlin is celebrating its 20th edition from April 26–28, 2024, under the new direction of Antonia Ruder, who took over the reins in November 2023. Every spring, over 50 participating galleries showcase the diversity and quality of Berlin’s art scene and gallery landscape, presenting high-calibre exhibitions by both emerging and established artists.

Founded in 2005 by a small group of Berlin galleries, Gallery Weekend quickly established itself as a permanent highlight on the international art calendar. Two decades later, it prevails a testament to the city’s vibrant art scene, offering a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted nature and current trends in contemporary art.

Alongside established names such as Wolfgang Tillmans (Galerie Buchholz), Hanne Darboven (Crone Berlin), Sean Scully (Galerie Max Hetzler) and Cosima von Bonin (Galerie Neu), there will also be numerous discoveries to make during this anniversary edition. Guests will have the opportunity to explore new artistic positions in the galleries, such as the American artist Haley Mellin at Dittrich & Schlechtriem or the Argentinian artist Santiago de Paoli at Meyer Riegger. At Sprüth Magers, a group exhibition titled “territory” will feature the work of five Asian artists: Mire Lee, Liu Yujia, Gala Porras-Kim, Tan Jing, and Zhang Ruyi. Berlin’s younger galleries will exhibit the works of Akeem Smith (Heidi), Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann (Noah Klink), Angharad Williams (Schiefe Zähne), and Constantin Thun (Sweetwater). As a newcomer to Gallery Weekend, the young gallery Molitor will show the work of American artist Lisa Jo.

In total, over 90 positions will be presented at more than 60 locations during the weekend. For better navigation of the extensive programme, a digital map is provided on the website. Supportive content like digital studio visits, gallery portraits and new exhibition tours can be found on the homepage and social media channels (@galleryweekendberlin).
