Dean of Creative Arts (PR0489/22-23): School of Creative Arts, HKBU
Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), a public university, is looking for a distinguished, innovative and dynamic scholar to lead the School of Creative Arts. The School of Creative Arts is the academic home of three well-established units - the Academy of Film, Academy of Music, and Academy of Visual Arts - two new transdisciplinary programmes in the areas of Art & Technology, and Global Entertainment Business. The School has a total of over 1,240 undergraduate and postgraduate students, and 60 full-time faculty members.

The appointee
The appointee should be a visionary leader and distinguished scholar who will steer the developments of the School through leveraging the trends in art and technology. The appointee will expand the breadth and impact of faculty research, provide effective leadership, foster strong partnerships and collaborations with other universities and the industry and solicit external funding to support the School’s research and initiatives. The appointee will work closely with the Senior Management Team and the other Deans of Faculties/Schools to contribute to the strategic development of the University. Apart from the duties and responsibilities in academic leadership and management, it is expected that the appointee will hold a concurrent academic appointment in the School and engage in research, teaching and other scholarly activities.

Applicants should have a proven successful track record of academic leadership and international perspective. Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills are necessary.

Appointment terms
The appointment will normally be made on a three-year term and is renewable subject to review and mutual agreement. We offer an attractive remuneration package with competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Application procedures
Applicants are invited to submit their applications at the HKBU e-Recruitment System and send in a cover letter (with highlights of achievements and impacts in teaching, research, and leadership roles) and a detailed curriculum vitae. Applicants should also include names of two referees in their application form or curriculum vitae. Review of applications/nominations will begin immediately until the position is filled.

The information provided by applicants will be used solely for the purpose of considering their applications and all personal data provided will be kept confidential.

The University reserves the right not to fill the position or to make an appointment by invitation, and the appointment will be made according to the terms and conditions applicable at the time of offer.
