IAAC Global Summer School 2024 Workshops: join us in Barcelona or participate in an online learning experience
Are you looking for a multidisciplinary experience learning about bamboo & digital fabrication, advanced computation for design, urban analytics for participatory design and artificial intelligence?
During the month of July, participate in the Global Summer School (GSS) 2024. This summer, The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) proposes a workshop model, aiming to enhance hands-on experience at IAAC Barcelona while maintaining digital accessibility through an agile online format. GSS24 offers participants the opportunity to engage in four workshops focusing on the latest digital tools and software, covering topics such as bamboo architecture and digital fabrication, advanced computation, digital data & urban analytics and artificial intelligence for regenerative design.
Here is the list of workshops:
July 1–12: Bamboo at Work
The onsite workshop will explore the convergence of parametric tools, digital fabrication, and prototyping within the environment of IAAC Barcelona and Valldaura Labs. It welcomes creatives from architecture, urban planning, digital fabrication, design seeking a multidisciplinary experience in an international setting. Learn more.
July 1–5: Advanced Computation for Design
Participants will dive into the exploration of the convergence of advanced computational design, machine learning and environmental analysis in architecture, powered by Python. Students will embark on a journey to unlock the potential of data-centric models and Python-based algorithms to revolutionise architectural practice prioritising sustainability and environmental considerations. Learn more.
July 8–12: Urban Analytics for Participatory Design
The course will explore the integration of public participation with digital innovation in urban design, developing urban analytics for participatory design, collecting and mapping citizen inputs for data driven design of public space and equipping students with the skills to engage communities and apply technology in co-design inclusive urban spaces. Learn more.
July 15–19: AI for Regenerative Design
In the online workshop, students will use cutting edge AI tool including infrared.city for real-time microclimate simulations, multi-modal large language models, stable diffusion models and advanced computer vision models, to develop design workflows for architectural solutions. Learn more.
Applicants have the possibility to apply for one or more online modules with discounted early bird fees within May 31.
