Portable Gray issue 12: Paraäcademia
The Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry at the University of Chicago is pleased to announce the release of the twelfth issue of Portable Gray, a publication that draws on the work of the Gray Center, a research center for experimental collaborations between artists and scholars. The theme for our Spring issue is Paraäcademia, which looks at practices, bodies of knowledge, and schools of thought that have historically been excluded from, ignored by, and/or elected not to participate in the academy. This includes subjects such as witchcraft, hauntings, apotropaic magic, dance as history, pareidolic cinemas, skateboarding pedagogy, and much more.
Join us July 19 (5–8 pm) at The University of Chicago’s Logan Center Exhibitions, 915 East 60th Street, for the issue launch party and the opening reception for featured cover artist vanessa german’s Gray Center Fellowship Exhibition: At the end of this reality there is a bridge—the bridge is inside of you but not inside of your body.
