The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is thrilled to announce two new vice president hires: Amee Spondike as the next vice president for advancement, and Rob Flot as the next vice president and dean of student affairs. Both will begin their roles on April 1.

As vice president for advancement, Spondike will oversee all facets of philanthropy at SAIC, including major gifts, annual giving, stewardship, alum and parent engagement, and corporate and foundation relations. She has spent 20 years as an arts fundraising professional. Prior to joining SAIC, she worked as the senior executive director for museum advancement at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she oversaw a portfolio of 150 major, principal, and prospective donors. Her creative stewardship included those who gave gifts of art, local artists, and RISD alums as a way to build community to support the ongoing mission of the museum.

As vice president and dean of student affairs, Flot will oversee all student affairs services and programming at SAIC, including Residential Life and the Wellness Center. He has three decades of experience supporting students in higher education institutions. Most recently, he worked for seven years as the vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Occidental College in Los Angeles. He has developed comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion resources and programs at various institutions, and he has an impressive track record of collaborating with faculty and staff to create an educational environment that supports students holistically as individuals.
