Proyector, in collaboration with re:arc institute, presents Extra Ordinario, a collaborative network identifying new models of architectural production and creative practices across Latin America.
Latin America
The economic and social disparities present in the countries of Latin America have led to heterogeneity in the region's architectural production systems, operating in convergence with the diversity of their cultural and natural environments. These extraordinary conditions have been regularly standardized in the operation of these systems, leading to unconventional processes driven by individual or collective efforts, as well as the tensions between their own conditions of necessity and opportunity.
Extra Ordinario
Extra Ordinario is a collaborative network that seeks to identify new models of architectural production and creative practices across Latin America. We’re looking for applied spatial practices and projects, whether emerging or consolidated, that, from critical, collaborative, and specifically situated approaches, address cultural, social, material, labor, technological, and environmental issues, actively promoting a new landscape of architectural production in the region.
Community
Despite their transformative potential, these unique production processes often remain isolated or hidden. In this sense, Extra Ordinario is interested in establishing relationships between practices that respond creatively to local conditions of social, economic and environmental inequality, giving rise to exceptional solutions that confront the traditional limits of conventional design and construction.
The call welcomes groups, individuals, and organizations of architects, builders, designers, and multidisciplinary professionals who explore, interact, and transform their environment and socio-cultural surroundings, operating freely between official and unofficial systems, the institution and self-management, technology and craftsmanship across Latin America.
First edition
In its inaugural phase, the platform seeks to consolidate a network of practices and projects, hosting encounters throughout the year, and featuring, via four digital volumes, conversations, interviews, essays, profiles, and projects of the participating practices. Conceived as a platform for mutual exchange, Extra Ordinario offers a space to share knowledge, forge collaborations, and strengthen collective impact.
To participate, register at extra-ordinario.org before June 14. Submit your projects, share your practice, and join the community!
Proyector
Proyector is a curatorial platform based in Mexico City, dedicated to promoting emerging voices in contemporary architectural research. Proyector is committed to fostering new critical, theoretical, and historical strategies and tools on spatial issues. During the three seasons of the annual program, researchers (and research groups) are invited to work collaboratively with the curatorial team, seeking the projection of their research in multiple formats: exhibitions, publications, workshops, performances, installations, and lectures, among others.

Re:arc Institute
re:arc institute is a non-profit philanthropic association based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and operating globally with funding from the Inter IKEA Foundation. It supports interdisciplinary groups on an annual basis through three models based on their specific needs: grants, the Practice Lab and public discourse. The projects it funds are innovative, hyper-local and focus on the work of women, youth and people of the global majority.
Practice Lab
The Practice Lab is a space of learning by doing that works directly with architects and professional practitioners to carry out built projects and prototype alternative models for philanthropy in architecture.
