Triennale Milano presents the 24th International Exhibition, which runs from May 13 to November 9, 2025, under the title Inequalities.
After exploring the themes of sustainability with Broken Nature in 2019 and the mysteries of the universe, from cosmic space to the invisible scale of viruses with Unknown Unknowns in 2022, the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition closes this trilogy by focusing reflection on the human dimension and addressing an urgent and political issue such as the growing inequalities that characterize cities and the contemporary world.
Says Stefano Boeri, President of Triennale Milano and General Commissioner of the 24th International Exhibition: “For the next six months, the exhibition halls of Triennale Milano will be dedicated to the theme of inequality. The focus is extended from cities and spaces to bodies and lives. A series of exhibitions investigates how immense wealth is now concentrated in the hands of a few—and how, for millions around the world, being born into poverty has become an irreversible fate. We will explore how inequality—whether inherited at birth, encountered along the way, or shaped by our own actions—impacts life expectancy and health for each of us. We speak of ghettos and wars: the most extreme manifestations of inequality, so rigid and profoundly unjust that they become instruments of cruelty, even of death. But the 24th International Exhibition also makes space for promising ideas, thoughtful policies, and exemplary projects—efforts that, at times, can transform inequality into fertile difference, into shared qualities that enable individuals, though diverse, to exchange values and enrich one another. With Inequalities, Triennale Milano therefore does not pretend to exhaust a theme, but rather, as it has always done, to suggest reflections and propose some solutions.”
The 24th International Exhibition brings together 341 personalities from the world of art, design, architecture, collectives, cultural institutions, museums, and research institutes from 73 countries. Inequalities includes eight exhibitions and ten special projects, a section dedicated to International Participations solicited under the auspices of the BIE—Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), a public program that runs throughout the duration of the event, and a performing arts program that will be presented in October and November.
Among the curators, artists and architects participating in Inequalities are Norman Foster, Beatriz Colomina, Mark Wigley, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Theaster Gates. Projects by some of the world's leading architects are on display, including Kazuyo Sejima, Alejandro Aravena, Elizabeth Diller from Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Boonserm Premthada; as well as the contribution of Amos Gitai.
The ground floor of Triennale hosts the reflections on the geopolitical dimension of inequalities, referring mainly, but not only, to the world of cities and in particular to the new meaning that the two opposing terms of “wealth” and “poverty” have assumed today in the different spheres of urban life. The first floor, on the other hand, is devoted to the biopolitical implications of social, economic and gender inequalities, and in particular to the habits, lifestyles and expectations of life in contemporary societies, starting from the observation of the biodiversity of and in social bodies, and considering their different mobility in space.
Two publications are produced on the occasion of Inequalities. The first, published by Electa with graphic design by Pentagram, is the actual catalog and presents the contributions of the curators, artists and designers involved. The second will be a double issue of the architectural revue “Lotus” that will offer a series of critical reflections and insights on some of the issues addressed in the Exhibition.
The 24th International Exhibition is open until November 9, 2025. Info and tickets on triennale.org.
