We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding artistic oeuvre and excellent academic qualifications. Applicants are expected to have experience in teaching and/or imparting architectural and/or artistic knowledge. The professorship is intended to expand the institute’s research and teaching in the field of contemporary art and position it in an international context.
A critical engagement with contemporary artistic questions that are related to architecture is expected. The professorship should represent artistic design principles in close connection with the themes of architectural and urban design in both teaching and research. It is the aim of the Faculty of Architecture at TU Graz to educate strong designers with in-depth expertise—both at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels—who are able to responsibly navigate the complexity of architectural practice across a variety of building tasks. The successful candidate’s teaching responsibilities also include the supervision of PhD and Master theses.
The Faculty of Architecture at TU Graz explicitly encourages the establishment of collaborations with both academic and non-academic research institutions and professional authorities as well as a strong commitment to interdisciplinary cooperation. Cross-institute and cross-faculty collaborations, participation in the faculty's international programs and involvement in academic self-governance are required. We particularly welcome candidates with a completed Doctoral Degree (PhD).
Relocation of the future professor to the greater Graz area (main residence) is required.
Applicants should have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, to be able to effectively represent the field internationally, and they must also be willing to learn German if they do not already know the language.
