We are thrilled to announce that Huda Takriti (b. 1990, Syria) is the recipient of the Han Nefkens Foundation—Museu Tàpies Video Art Production Grant 2025, in collaboration with NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore; WIELS Brussels; Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) Manila; Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai and Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donnaregina (MADRE), Naples.
Huda Takriti was selected as the recipient of the grant by a jury chaired by Mr. Han Nefkens and composed of Joselina Cruz: Director at MCAD, Manila; Eva Fabbris, Director of MADRE, Naples; Karin Oen, Director of NTU CCA Singapore; Imma Prieto, Director at Museu Tàpies; Nora Razian, Deputy Director and Head of Exhibitions at Jameel Art Centre, Dubai, and Dirk Snauwaert Director of WIELS, Brussels; in the presence of Hilde Teerlinck, Director of the Han Nefkens Foundation and Alessandra Biscaro, Coordinator of the Han Nefkens Foundation.
Jury statement: “Takriti's work compellingly engages with performance, theatre, and archival practices, approaching them in ways that are both subversive and inventive. Her proposal impressed us with its openness, suggesting a range of possible outcomes rather than a fixed direction, and its unique research perspective.”

Huda Takriti: “I have been working around themes of historical erasure, anti-colonial struggle and the possibilities of resistance through storytelling; through leaving traces that can penetrate and shake the core of the imperial narrative we all know as History. Today, as we are witnessing the shattering of our world and the decimation of our land, homes and bodies, we owe the world to keep on telling not only of but with those marginalised, those forcibly uprooted and displaced, those detained and deported and those disappeared across the globe.”

The Han Nefkens Foundation—Museu Tàpies Video Art Production Grant 2025 aims to be a tool for increasing contemporary artistic production in the video art field and is directed at emerging visual artists living in the territory of Central/West Asia. The artists have established a solid trajectory but have not had the opportunity to exhibit extensively: this production grant should serve as an important source of support and boost in their career.
Takriti will receive $15,000 for the production of a new work which—from the end of 2026—will be presented at each participating institution.
