Bianca Bondi: Graces for Gerosa

South African artist Bianca Bondi will create a site-specific installation in the deconsecrated church of Santa Maria in Montanis in Gerosa. Developed in collaboration with the Val Brembilla community, the work engages with the church’s architecture and interior while drawing on local history—in particular, the ban imposed on dance. Seven life-sized figures embody a suspended choreography. Headless and topped with exuberant bouquets of flowers, corals, and crystallized matter, the figures serve as vessels celebrating collective expression and rebirth.
Asunción Molinos Gordo: Crops Are Not Orphans

Astino (Bergamo)
In the Valle della Biodiversità of Astino, in collaboration with the “Lorenzo Rota” Botanical Garden of Bergamo, Spanish artist Asunción Molinos Gordo will lead an artistic-participatory workshop to gather and share the stories associated with seeds, offering a collective reflection on the concept of Seed Kinship—the idea that seeds can generate emotional bonds and nurture a sense of belonging. The project will involve participants from local urban gardens from October to January; at the end of the project, the artist will create a visual representation of the shared work, which will be exhibited in the museum.
Gaia Fugazza: Mother of Millions

The project, developed by Gaia Fugazza in collaboration with NAHR—Nature, Art & Habitat Residency, is a large-scale sculpture depicting a rising figure carrying a multitude of creatures sprouting from its arms. Referencing the histories of human migration in and out of Val Taleggio, as well as the practice of transhumance, the work draws its shape from the Mother of Millions plant, a species that reproduces asexually by generating plantlets along its leaves. The sculpture will first be installed in a traditional barn before being exhibited in the museum spaces.

Dalmine
The Mexican artist Abraham Cruzvillegas will create a site-specific installation in the outdoor areas of the Fondazione Dalmine. The work, made from everyday objects and waste materials sourced locally, will explore—often ironically—the notions of progress linked to the industrial imaginary. Collaborating with local associations, the project will take the form of a participatory experience.
Agnese Galiotto: La montagna non esiste

Almenno San Bartolomeo
Italian artist Agnese Galiotto, in collaboration with the municipality of Almenno San Bartolomeo, painted a fresco on the wall of a house facing the public area in front of the local library and the Villa dell’Amicizia. The work revisits the recurring theme in her practice—the relationship between humans and birds—creating a visual dialogue between flight and Mount Albenza, which rises behind the building.
Atelier dell’Errore: TEN

An anthological exhibition of the Italian collective Atelier dell’Errore will bring together some of the most significant sets from their production since 2015—when the art workshop dedicated to neuro-divergent children became a collective professionally dedicated to visual art and performance practices. The exhibition will be divided between Spazio Zero, where a new series focused on sexuality will be presented, and the museum’s permanent collection spaces, following a non-chronological path that traces the key moments of their artistic research over the past decade.
Pedro Vaz: Becoming Mountain

The museum will showcase a large painting installation by Portuguese artist Pedro Vaz, inspired by the mountain landscape of the Alta Via delle Orobie Bergamasche. Developed through on-site research, the work embodies Vaz’s immersive artistic approach, stemming from his trekking experiences. Mounted on a curved structure, it shifts away from traditional landscape views, offering an embodied, proximity-based experience where the viewer becomes part of the mountain itself.
EX.: The New Aldo Frattini Bivouac

Alta Via delle Orobie Bergamasche
In October, the new structure of the historic Bivacco Aldo Frattini on the Alta Via delle Orobie Bergamasche will officially open: a special project resulting from a collaboration with the Bergamo section of the Italian Alpine Club and EX., a design laboratory working at the intersection of art, landscape, technology, and architecture.
Located at about 2,300 meters, the new bivouac will serve as a shelter offering protection to hikers and climbers: a textile refuge that turns fragility into architecture. The Frattini Bivouac is both shelter and experiment: a research station where materials can be tested in extreme conditions. It will also act as a base for environmental monitoring and scientific research, with data collection supporting mountain ecosystem protection. Thanks to the use of new technologies, the GAMeC will be the point where data will constantly flow.
The final cycle’s opening will serve as an opportunity to reactivate artworks from the two-year project, reaffirming GAMeC’s dedication to community engagement and promoting art as a tool for participation and social cohesion.
Over previous cycles, Thinking Like a Mountain has featured the participation of Mercedes Azpilicueta, Cecilia Bengolea, Yesmine Ben Khelil, Julius von Bismarck, Sonia Boyce, Maurizio Cattelan, Gabriel Chaile, Marta Cuscunà, Michela de Mattei, EX., Agnese Galiotto, Chiara Gambirasio, Agostino Iacurci, Invernomuto, Lin May Saeed, Francesco Pedrini, Giulio Squillacciotti, Studio Ossidiana, and has involved the communities of Bergamo, Averara, Branzi, Brembate, Casnigo, Castione della Presolana, Dalmine, Dossena, Gorno, Gromo, Roncobello, Serina, Valbondione, Vedeseta, Vertova, Villa d’Almè, and Zogno.
