Organisations around the world are racing to harness the potential of quantum technologies, with sectors including AI, computing and communications set to be transformed. LAS Art Foundation brings together experts in the field to address fundamental questions about the rise of quantum technologies and to explore the implications and possibilities they open up.
Join scientists, philosophers, artists and writers including Shamira Ahmed, Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, Tommaso Calarco, Libby Heaney, Michael Lebert, Hartmut Neven, Roger Penrose, Laure Prouvost and Tobias Rees for a day of panel discussions at silent green’s Betonhalle in Berlin on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Shamira Ahmed is an economist and co-author of UNESCO’s 2025 brief on Human Rights Centered Global Governance of Quantum Technologies.
Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker and cultural activist who founded SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute’s Experiences department.
Tommaso Calarco is a physicist, policy advisor to the EU and the Director of the Institute for Quantum Control at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Libby Heaney is an artist with a doctorate and professional background in quantum science.
Michael Lebert is the initiator and chair of QuantumLeaks Foundation, a research organisation supported by the Max Planck Foundation.
Hartmut Neven is a scientist and the founder of Google Quantum AI.
Roger Penrose is a mathematical physicist and received the Nobel Prize in Physics.
Laure Prouvost is an artist whose newly-commissioned installation WE FELT A STAR DYING uses quantum technologies. It was presented by LAS Art Foundation at Kraftwerk Berlin in Spring 2025 and is on view at OGR Torino from 31 October 2025 to 10 May 2026.
Tobias Rees is a philosopher and founder of Limn, a philosophical research and development lab.
LAS Art Foundation presents this symposium as part of its ongoing Sensing Quantum programme, launched in February 2025 with Laure Prouvost: WE FELT A STAR DYING and the Sound Lab, featuring works by Kara-Lis Coverdale, Marco Donnarumma, and Aïsha Devi. It continues with a publication and a second commissioned installation in Berlin in January 2026.
About Sensing Quantum
A century ago, quantum physics revealed that, at the smallest scales, we cannot predict everything about how matter behaves. Particles can exist in multiple states at once, become linked, or even pass through energy barriers. Today, these ideas are the foundation of quantum computers, which could transform our world.
LAS’s Sensing Quantum programme explores the implications and possibilities of quantum computing. It brings together artists, scientists and thinkers to create critical and artistic languages around this evolving field. The programme highlights the importance of creative experimentation with emerging technologies.
With imaginative artworks and engaging programming, Sensing Quantum aims to make the topic of quantum computing accessible to a broad audience. It will continue at various venues throughout 2025 and 2026, featuring installations, a symposium and a publication.
