How does contemporary architecture respond creatively and responsibly to the global challenges facing society, cultivating viable and inclusive built environments? Beyond the traditional confines of building, architects innovate, curate, and design services and systems. Increasingly, architects and educators are recognising the importance of design resilience and acknowledging architecture’s complicity in unsustainable consumption, seeking ethically and socially responsible means to design. Emphasizing the importance of bridging research and design practice, this Fall public lecture series explores adaptive, resilient, and contextually sensitive design approaches, reflexive practices, and collaborations, featuring Rachaporn Choochuey, Wenjing Huang, Yutaka Sho, Benedetta Tagliabue, Billie Tsien, and Tiantian Xu.
This lecture series is coordinated by Hanjun Huang (MArch (Design) 2026) and Daniel Tong (BAAS 2028) and Prof. Eunice Seng, Head of Department of Architecture, HKU.
Date: October 3, 2025–November 21, 2025 / Time: 6:30–8pm HKT / Venue: KB419, 4/F, Knowles Building, The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong.
