The 2025 edition of the Barcelona Symposium—Talking Galleries’ flagship event in its home city—will continue this mission with renewed energy, presenting a two-day in-person programme that brings together leading voices from across the art world in a welcoming environment for dialogue and critical reflection.
Among the highlights of the this year's conference are special interviews with renowned Mexican gallerist José Kuri (kurimanzutto) and Austrian gallerist Ursula Krinzinger (Galerie Krinzinger), who will reflect on their distinguished careers in the gallery field, in line with the Symposium’s commitment to acknowledging significant gallery journeys.
Other guest speakers include Daniel G. Andújar (Artist), Mira Bernabeu (1 Mira Madrid / 2 Mira Archiv), Luigi Fassi (Artissima), Carles Guerra (Curator and Art Critic), Llucià Homs (Talking Galleries), Dustyn Kim (Artsy), Maribel López (ARCO), Anna Manubens (Fundació Joan Miró), Anders Petterson (ArtTactic), Alain Quemin (Sociologist of Art), Mazdak Sanii (Avant Arte), Tim Schneider (The Gray Market), Tom Seymour (Arts Journalist), Elena Soboleva (Arts Consultant), Olga Subirós (Architect and Curator) and Sarah Suco Torres (Las Cicadas / Can Garita), among other contributors.
This outstanding line-up will address some of the most relevant questions shaping contemporary gallery practice and the art market today, including: the resilience of art fairs in uncertain economic times; the rise of Gen Z collectors; AI as a new frontier for culture; the evolution of the online market; the archive as both a curatorial and an aesthetic practice; the role of artistic residencies in redefining gallery strategies; sustainability across the art industry; and the growing entanglement between art and luxury brands.
