Citymakers: Places of negotiation

Now in its seventh year, Allies and Morrison’s annual conference, Citymakers, brings together developers, planners, academics and designers to look beyond the boundaries between practitioners and the public; between a site and the city; exploring the often misunderstood role of masterplanning in the making of cities today. This year Citymakers returns on September 11 at the Barbican Centre in London to explore the nature of the negotiation between the private and public sector in shaping cities today.

Collaboration between the public and private sectors is the driving force behind major urban regeneration schemes across our cities. And now, faced with environmental, economic, and regulatory pressures, navigating this negotiation has become even more crucial for delivering good places. 

How can these partnerships unlock the futures that our cities and communities need? Join us as we explore this complex dynamic in the making of cities today, from the perspectives of public sector, developer, practitioner and community.
