Creative Producer Programme 2025–27

Kunstverein Aughrim is a curatorial production office established in Ireland in 2022. Through our Artistic Programme we accompany artists in a curatorial capacity, developing ongoing collaborations across multiple projects. We support the artistic process of creating new work by underwriting the development of new methodologies and by bringing audiences as close to the creative process as possible. Through practice we have come to recognise that in order for the visual arts to evolve, we need more Creative Producers and Independent Curators to support artists and bridge gaps between practice and presentation, in synergy with existing frameworks and infrastructure.

In May 2025 Kunstverein Projects CLG was incorporated as a non-profit art organisation, with the aim of using the methodology established by Kunstverein Aughrim as a basis upon which to establish a new network of Creative Producers, to build production capacity and support the development of artistic practice in the visual arts in Ireland.

We are thrilled to announce the participants of our first Creative Producer Programme. They are: Aisling Murray, Fatoumata Gandega, Iarlaith Ní Fheorais, Nathan O’Donnell, Rachel Botha, and Seán Ward. 

Participants were selected following a highly competitive Open Call. Our assessment panel included Aude Christel Mgba, Krist Gruijthuijsen, and Lara Khaldi. Kunstverein Projects is led by Kate Strain (CEO & Artistic Director) and Michelle Darmody (Executive Director & Programme Coordinator). As part of the Creative Producer Programme we are excited to work with Lian Bell as Facilitator, Sara Muthi as Curatorial Collaborator, and many other creative practitioners along the way.

The 18-month training and development programme consists of Training Days hosted by our partner organisations EVA International, Fire Station Artists’ Studios, Galway Arts Centre, Ireland at Venice, Mermaid Arts Centre, National Sculpture Factory, Ormston House, Regional Cultural Centre, Sirius Arts Centre, The Dock, The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art, and VISUAL. We will have Development Days at Kunstverein Aughrim, Cow House Studios and The Courthouse Arts Centre; an International Collaboration with de Appel Amsterdam and Page Not Found in the Netherlands; alongside a series of Practice-based Projects, culminating in the development of a Publication documenting the programme’s learning and workshop contents, to be published in the form of a handbook in early 2027.

Governed by a Board of Directors, Kunstverein Projects CLG is committed to supporting the development of artistic practice and the role of creative producers in the visual arts in Ireland. Guided by a belief in the necessity of art, we see every stage of the production process as a chance to test the parameters of artistic practice. Similarly we see every moment of encounter as a space to enact the transformative potential of art. Our vision is that Ireland's capacity to produce new work in the visual arts meets and elevates the exceptional potential of the artists that live and work here.
