Asymmetry is a non-profit independent organisation based in London that supports curators and researchers with Chinese and Sinophone backgrounds. Through fellowships, scholarships, public programmes, research, and a specialist library, we create space for critical inquiry and long-term dialogue. By fostering connective collaboration, we contribute to more inclusive futures for contemporary art.

We are now entering our next phase—deepening our research and discursive practices, extending our dialogues globally, and shaping this work through a strengthened leadership team of Director, incoming Head of Programmes, and incoming Head of Publications. Together, we are building the foundation for dedicated programmes and publications teams and an expanded scope of dialogue and collaboration.

Head of Programmes
The Head of Programmes will work closely with the Director and team as a conceptual partner to shape, develop, and deliver Asymmetry’s research-led programmes, encompassing public events, collaborations with partner institutions, and our Fellows’ network.

We are seeking an experienced individual with a curatorial sensibility and strong interdisciplinary grounding in developing public programmes and leading research. The candidate should bring an established network of collaborators across the arts ecosystem.

This is a leadership position requiring vision, independent research, conceptualisation, and oversight of Asymmetry’s activities, alongside excellent communication and team management skills.

Head of Publications
The Head of Publications will work closely with the Director and team as a conceptual partner to shape, develop, and deliver Asymmetry’s publishing, library, and archival activities. This includes printed and digital publications, artist and research-based projects, the growing Asymmetry Library, and related public-facing outputs that connect publishing to discourse and community.

We are seeking an experienced individual with a strong editorial and curatorial sensibility, and a broad understanding of independent publishing, research, and contemporary art writing. The candidate should bring an established network of collaborators across art, writing, and academic ecosystems.

This is a leadership position requiring independent conceptualisation, editorial direction, and oversight of Asymmetry’s publishing, research, and communications activities, alongside excellent writing, project management, and team leadership skills.
