The Artists’ Program is a space for artists from all disciplines, writers, critics and curators interested in taking part in intensive training, debate, and production—the three pillars of the program since its founding in 2009 in the Art Center of the Torcuato Di Tella University.
The Program, which lasts a year and a half (from March 2026 to June 2027) will take place on the 12 floor of a corporate building located in downtown Buenos Aires, with a privileged panoramic view of the city and the Río de la Plata, at the epicenter of the local contemporary art circuit, surrounded by galleries, museums and artist-run spaces.
This new edition of the Program—which has for the first time Diego Bianchi's artistic direction—will focus on critical reflection and action on artistic practice, the time and space we inhabit, invoking the power of art in relation to the era we live in. The Program will be organized around three essential and interconnected pillars: language, media, and world.
The main goal will be to work on the grammar, materiality, operations and forms that define the artists’ practice. Invented media and unprecedented solutions against the impossibilities and problems of the world. The capacity for constant redefinition. Nonconformity as an essential driving force of art, inadequacy and the desire to modify the existing as a poetic and creative instance. The discussions will approach languages and practices, familiar and strange, current and anachronistic, media and channels, the ordinary and the extravagant.
The Program experience will be structured around a series of intensive workshops, led by Camila Marambio, Ana Paula Cohen, Jon Mikel Euba, Teddy Williams, Alejandro Cesarco and Eduardo Navarro, who will reveal their interest and obsessions and share with the participants part of their undergoing investigations. As special guest professor Thomas Hirschhorn will lead a workshop and a performative lecture about his work.
In addition to these workshops, a continuous series of theoretical seminars coordinated by Graciela Speranza, Pablo Schanton, Julieta Massacese, Claudio Iglesias and Mariano Mayer will explore topics of theory and thought, such as new materialisms and feminist epistemologies, countercultures, anthropolgy and dissonance, the rebellious legacy of Fluxus and the construction of real fictions through contemporary art. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore downtown Buenos Aires and its surroundings, in circuits guided by artists and thinkers in order to generate situated knowledge. All these activities aim to multiply voices and points of view.
In turn, a diverse team of tutors will be available to guide each participant 's personal production through regular encounters. The tutors for this edition will be Leo Estol, Julian D'Angiolillo, Irene Kopelman, Julieta García Vázquez, Luis Garay, Marcela Sinclair, Joaquin Aras, Carlos Huffmann, Leticia Obeid and Irina Kirchuk.
In addition to all courses and activities, the Program offers a collective workspace of unrestrictive use during the first year, which will operate as an observatory, a laboratory of projects.
From March to June 2027, participants will be involved in a series of writing workshops and encounters with their tutors in order to prepare the Program’s Final Exhibition, where their projects will be presented.
The admission is open to artists from all disciplines, including writers, researchers and curators, and former students are welcome to apply for a second time. A necessary condition for participating in the Program is knowledge of Spanish, since most of the activities will be conducted in this language.
Luis Garay, Julieta García Vazquez, Claudio Iglesias and Liv Schulman will form the Selection Committee.
