The Curatorial Program for Research (CPR) is pleased to announce its open call for curators to participate in CPR 2026: (Self)Organization in North Africa. Participating curators will travel to the North African region, including Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. CPR’s 10th fully-funded research program will take place from May 3–26, 2026.
A cohort of up to eight international curators will be hosted by local arts organizations, artists, and independent curators. Robust daily programming includes artist-run workshops, contextual screenings, guided walking tours, and institutional visits. These activities are complemented by discussions centered on a reader of socio-political history, arts, and culture in all three contexts.
The theme of CPR’s inaugural program in North Africa is how arts ecologies (self)organize differently across the region and what institutional forms enable artists, curators and others to work in culture. The participating cohort will be invited to think structurally and historically about how dynamic, experimental and critically engaged artistic practices in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco are nurtured and sustained. Initiated by Algiers-based independent curator Myriam Amroun and Stockholm-based curator Natasha Marie Llorens in close collaboration with the Curatorial Program for Research, the 2026 program explores possible connections between art scenes on a South-South axis by asking how people work together in each context.
The selection committee is comprised of CPR Founding Director Carmen Ferreyra and CPR Europe Director Susanne Ewerlöf, Myriam Amroun (Independent Curator, Algiers) Natasha Marie Llorens (Independent Curator, Stockholm) with key local specialists: Nour Amrani (Mouhit Space), representatives from Le18 Marrakech, and Abdo Shanan (Crossroads).
The program covers international flights, local transportation, accommodation, and some of the meals to all participants.

About the Curatorial Program for Research
The Curatorial Program for Research (CPR) is the core facilitator of an international network of curators, artists and institutions. Through open calls and research scholarships, CPR has three goals: first, to enable a direct, in situ communication between international curators and local artists. Secondly, to promote equal access to knowledge. And third, to act as a platform for promotion and practice for the participating artists, curators and hosts.
With a nomadic and intensive format, CPR promotes dialogue between international curators and local artistic scenes. The program was created by curators, for curators, and is a US-based non-profit international organization.
