Kunsthal Charlottenborg’s 2026 programme presents a series of exhibitions exploring how we experience and interpret the world around us—from intimate details of nature and community narratives to the impacts of technology on contemporary life.
Throughout the year, visitors can experience solo exhibitions by Małgorzata Mirga-Tas, Amalie Smith, Jochen Lempert, and Som Supaparinya, alongside the institution’s two annual group shows—the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition and the MFA Degree Show Afgang—presenting emerging artists and new perspectives in contemporary art.
“The 2026 programme examines how we understand and experience the world around us—from the minute details of nature to the digital technologies shaping contemporary life. The artists invite us to reflect, sense and explore how community, environment and technology influence our everyday lives and the ways we see one another,” says Helene Nyborg Bay, Director of Kunsthal Charlottenborg.
Małgorzata Mirga-Tas
March 12–August 16, 2026
Polish artist and activist Małgorzata Mirga-Tas (b. 1978) presents her first solo exhibition in Denmark, featuring monumental textile works celebrating Romani culture, community, and women’s lives. Using embroidery, fabric, and repurposed materials, she challenges artistic hierarchies and highlights narratives often excluded from art history. Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition 2026

The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition presents new artistic voices across visual art, architecture, design, and crafts. Through an open, juried format, the exhibition offers a dynamic overview of current artistic tendencies. This year, the Foundation highlights the interplay of crafts, design, and architecture in the Spring Exhibition’s presentation of visual art. The jury includes artists Young-jun Tak and Anne-Mette Schultz, author Liv Sejrbo Lidegaard, and architects Mathias Mentze and Alexander Ottenstein. More info here
Afgang 2026

The annual graduation exhibition of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Schools of Visual Arts presents the next generation of artists. Across media and themes—from intimate reflections to socially engaged investigations—the MFA Degree Show offers a first encounter with tomorrow’s artists and marks the beginning of many new artistic careers. Amalie Smith

Danish artist and author Amalie Smith (b. 1985) unveils her largest solo exhibition to date, presenting new site-specific installations that explore how digitalisation and technological development affect our senses, cognition and connections to the world. In Smith’s work, the material and immaterial converge in poetic constellations of body, technology and time. Curated by Henriette Bretton-Meyer. More info here
Jochen Lempert

German artist Jochen Lempert (b. 1958) merges the precision of biology with the sensitivity of art in his analogue black-and-white photographs of nature’s patterns and details. Som Supaparinya

Thai video artist Som Supaparinya (b. 1973) presents her first exhibition in Scandinavia with works that explore the relationship between nature and industry. Through film and installation, she examines how human activity shapes landscapes, rivers and cities—and how the space between fact and fiction can illuminate our impact on the planet. More info here
