Corey McCorkle is pleased to introduce Audit Institute, an educational counter-proposal for visual arts dropouts. Audit is now accepting applicants for Spring 2026.
We are looking for motivated participants, in any visual discipline, who are themselves looking for a more tailored situation in which to explore their work and thinking. We are looking for individuals led by unquenchable curiosity who are in need of some navigational support and direction. We are looking for those comfortable with ambiguity, the aberrant, and the inadvertent—for things unbridled. And, we are also looking for readers, who are comfortable with the sustained attention required by entire books.
We are offering what the University cannot: relevance and a value proposition. Think of us as an organizing principle, a clearing, or even a direct response to the squishy thinking of frictionless consensus. We have initiated this program for younger artists looking for something a bit more rogue, engaged in the world as it is, and has always been, out of balance. We teach discernment and nuance. The rest is noise.
Spring 2026 curriculum
Beginning in March 2026, Audit will offer two primary (and deliberately affordable) graduate-level courses. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants per course to ensure rigorous engagement.
Advanced Studio: An eleven-session investigation of peer reviewed work and focus. Presentation Seminar: An eleven-session deep-dive into the discourse around contemporary art history.
Summer 2026: ten day intensive
In July 2026, Audit will convene an in-person workshop on the Mississippi River in Western Wisconsin. We will unpack an expansive understanding of landscape—from Poussin to fracking sand mines; from Song Dynasty scrolls to cloud seeding. We will investigate "Wilderness" in the wild. Availability is strictly limited.
Audit is entirely unaccredited, which is precisely the point. We invite you to join us in disaggregation and remote dispersion. You will be surprised what happens to your work when credentialed applause is removed.
