International workshop programme
June 1–September 4, 2026
Berlin 10623

Join us this summer to experiment, collaborate, and connect at the Berlin Summer University of the Arts. From June to September, our programme brings together 30 workshops across all artistic disciplines, inviting artists and creatives to deepen their practice, exchange ideas, and open up new spaces for artistic dialogue together. We offer a discount of 100 Euros to all Summer University and UdK Berlin alumni, as well as a 50 Euro discount for multiple bookings. Registration for all courses is open.
This year’s course programme centres around the topic ENOUGH.
In a world of overconsumption and sensory overload, of constant growth and progress we take a closer look at a concept that is defined by renunciation, clarity, simplicity, and resistance, but does not necessarily mean limitation.
We invite you to explore the multiple dimensions of the concept of ENOUGH in social, political, and ecological contexts: from artistic practices to performative strategies or sustainable approaches to art-making. You can find a small selection of workshops below. Discover all courses here.
Negotiations on what is ENOUGH are omnipresent in city life: it is marked by tensions between growth and reduction, between overflow and slowing down. We offer a selection of courses engaging with the city of Berlin: The workshop (Re)Discovering The City (June 8–12) sheds new light on the familiar cityscape through artistic strategies such as Psychogeography, Situationism, algorithmic walking, sited dance and performance intervention. In the workshop Deep Mapping Berlin (June 22–25) you will use “deep mapping” and “counter mapping” as methods to explore and record Berlin's urban space in depth from multiple perspectives by using multiple media, including historical research, personal experiences, 3D scanning, sound recordings, and sketches. Tracing (future) mobility through walking and film (August 17–21) combines an artistic practice of flânerie with filmmaking in order to examine how we move through the city, and how infrastructures of mobility shape urban life.
Ideas of ENOUGH often invite a reorientation toward the natural world that surrounds us and the resources it offers. Several workshops engage with this perspective, exploring the dialogue between nature and artistic practice. The courses Drawing as Thinking: A Marathon through Natural History (July 6–10) and Large Piece of Lawn—Drawing the World of Plants (July 26–31) both approach drawing as a way to gain knowledge and cultivate awareness of the plant- and animal world. The course Water Beyond Resource: Making and Thinking through Water (August 5–7) explores water in its relational, social, and ecological dimensions through field trips, artistic practice, readings, and critical reflection.
