Cornelia Parker: Stolen Thunder (A Storm Gathering)

For the monumental Kesselhaus, Cornelia Parker (b. 1956 in Cheshire, lives in London) has created an immersive, site-specific piece—a phenomenal fictional event with immediate physical presence, which draws on extensive research into weather phenomena, as well as the media and cultural history of how they are recorded and archived.

The group exhibition explores the relationships and entanglements between human and non-human life. How our existence as a species depends on all other living beings on this planet—on those who produce the air we breathe, the food we eat and the materials essential to life. Photographic works, videos, and objects present moments of contact, care, and desire between different inhabitants of Earth, or ‘planetmates,’ as biologist Lynn Margulis put it.

Simon Faithfull: Earth-ling

The solo exhibition Earth-ling by Simon Faithfull (b. 1966 in Ipsden, UK, lives in Berlin) brings together videos, photographic works, and sculptures where a figure (or body) encounters the living fabric of this planet. Faithfull has developed a new sculpture for the KINDL facade: a half-length portrait of the artist made from cornstarch, which serves as a home for a colony of bees.

In times of polycrisis, the acute experience of a continuous state of exception leads to a confusing and frustrating condition, characterised by an inadequacy of language and other forms of connective possibility and contextualisation. Iliggocene—The Age of Dizziness proposes artistic positions that seek new vocabularies for these states of dizziness.

Summer program

50 Gramm Kunst
Exhibition: July 4–19, 2026
Kesselhaus
Free admission

Since 2021, 50 Gramm Kunst invites children, teens, and adults to contribute to a collective artwork presented in the 20 x 20 x 20 metre Kesselhaus. Participants create 50-gram objects using various materials, either at home or in one of the free workshops. These individual creations are then displayed together as a hanging mobile in an exhibition at the KINDL.

10 Jahre KINDL / 10 Years of the KINDL
July 18, 2026, 4–9 pm 

The KINDL marks its 10th anniversary with a diverse program spanning its indoor and outdoor spaces. On this day, entry is free, with a special programme of film screenings, performances, and guided tours accompanying the regular exhibitions. A DJ event and an extensive children’s and art education program complete the anniversary offerings.

Mischa Kuball: boiler house

Conceptual artist Mischa Kuball (b. 1959 in Düsseldorf) uses the medium of light to explore architectural spaces as well as social and political discourse. In his projects, he reflects on sociocultural structures and creates interventions that emphasise or reinterpret contexts of architectural history. For the KINDL’s striking Kesselhaus, Kuball is developing boiler house, a site-specific work that connects the present with the past. 

Kira Freije: Unspeak the Chorus
September 13, 2026–February 7, 2027

For her major solo exhibition at the KINDL, Kira Freije (b. 1985 in London, lives and works in London) has created a new body of work comprising an interlacing society of figures, animals and birds. Set within an atmosphere of shifting light, Freije’s sculptures participate in unspoken dialogues, forming environments and encounters that gesture towards mortality, mutuality and love. 

Unspeak the Chorus is co-commissioned by The Hepworth Wakefield and Modern Art Oxford, in collaboration with the KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art, Berlin.

NEOZOON
September 13, 2026–February 7, 2027

NEOZOON describes itself as an ecofeminist art collective and works primarily with film, video installation, and artistic intervention in public space. Their works revolve around sociological questions regarding speciesism and unmask the often absurd power relations between humans and animals, as well as between humans themselves—driven by competition, rivalry, and fantasies of superiority. They are developing an entirely new work for their presentation at the KINDL.

Thu-Van Tran
September 13, 2026–February 14, 2027

Thu-Van Tran (b. 1979 in Ho Chi Minh City) lives and works in Paris. Her impressive oeuvre draws connections to the political entanglements of nations and to colonial legacies—traces of which remain inscribed and visible in many places in Vietnam; in language, bodies, and landscapes. Tran’s survey exhibition at the KINDL presents her latest works, in which she engages in depth with soils and minerals, as well as with fire as a spiritual and transformative force.
