Spring programme with Sammy Baloji & Goda Palekaitė

Kunsthal Extra City presents its spring programme with concurrent solo exhibitions by Sammy Baloji and Goda Palekaitė. While distinct in form and approach, both exhibitions consider history as a contested field—one shaped through images, narratives, and systems of knowledge that remain subject to revision and reinterpretation.

Congolese artist and filmmaker Sammy Baloji presents a body of work that engages with five centuries of colonial history. Through textile and sound, the exhibition brings together different temporalities and materials, tracing how histories continue to resonate in the present.

Guest curated by Samuel Saelemakers. The exhibition is an outcome of Sammy Baloji’s research project in the Arts at Sint Lucas Antwerp, with additional support from the Flemish Community and the City of Antwerp.

Goda Palekaitė
Lapsarian 3.0

In Lapsarian 3.0, artist and researcher Goda Palekaitė examines moments of rupture as potential sites of transformation. At the centre of the exhibition is Lapsarian 3.0 (2026), an architectural and video installation developed specifically for Kunsthal Extra City, which draws on early Christian catacombs and subterranean spaces
