Greater New York

MoMA PS1 presents Greater New York 2026, the sixth edition of the museum’s signature survey of artists living and working in the New York City area, featuring 53 artists and collectives. On view from April 16 through August 17, 2026, this year’s iteration spans the entirety of the building, featuring site-specific installations and a range of media, from painting and photography to animation and scenography. In celebration of the museum’s 50th anniversary, the quinquennial exhibition is organized for the first time by the full MoMA PS1 curatorial team. Forefronting the perspectives of early and mid-career artists, Greater New York emphasizes the forces that shape daily life in the city today, as well as strategies of resistance and adaptation in the face of increased surveillance, accelerating technologies, and system breakdown. 

A dedicated performance program extends the exhibition’s inquiries into the powers of staging and spectacle within the city. May 2 features comedic ventriloquism by Sophie Becker, a participatory stand-up act by Rezarta Seferi, and a performance that stages reflective encounters through full-length mirrors by Symara Sarai. On May 30, Chang Yuchen and Kameelah Janan Rasheed premiere a collaborative performance lecture examining language in their practices; Tom Thayer immerses audience in sound, shadow, and live video mixing; and Kite debuts an improvisational musical performance that explores sonic collectivity, guided by the Lakȟóta values of exchange and reciprocity. On June 27 in MoMA PS1’s courtyard, Georgica Pettus debuts Truck, a full-length play that follows people competing in an endurance competition at a car dealership in South Texas.

Co-hosted by the exhibition artists, a sold-out party on April 24 celebrates the survey with a live performance by indietronica band ear, plus DJ sets by No Bra and ss3bby.
