Join a dynamic research milieu: HDK-Valand, Academy of Art and Design, University of Gothenburg is pleased to announce (at least) two new opportunities for employment as doctoral researcher in Artistic Practice. This subject includes design, photography, literary composition, film, craft, contemporary art and the various intersections of these creative traditions. We have an expansive understanding of these practices, and welcome multi-disciplinary projects. We also welcome proposals which seek to define or innovate new forms of practice within these disciplines.
We have a very dynamic and diverse international research milieu comprising: the Business & Design Lab; the Centre for Art and the Political Imaginary; the Imaginaries of Value Environment; and the GPS400: Centre for Collaborative Visual Research; research publishing infrastructures: L'Internationale Online, PARSE, Hasslblad partnership, and the Faculty's own imprint ArtMonitor; and the research clusters: Materialities; Environment; Economies; and Poltics-Practice-Publics.

Employment terms
Doctoral studies comprises four years of full-time study (including 60 ECTS course work) leading to a doctoral degree.
The doctoral position is an employment. Successful applicants will be required to be at the workplace—the HDK-Valand campus, central Gothenburg—during normal working hours unless otherwise agreed with the employer. Initial appointment is for a maximum of one year and may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
Employment may also include departmental duties—teaching, research and administration—comprising additional work distributed over the period of studies, extending the employment period by up to 20%.
The doctoral researchers recruited will be required to participate in up to two months of international mobility and exchange with HDK-Valand’s partners. During these periods of mobility and exchange you will continue to conduct your doctoral research.

PhD salary currently 32.300 SEK per month.
