Falling into amphibious land: Terremoto launches its open call for vol. III of Travesías Terremoto, aimed at Latin American and Caribbean artists.
Terremoto announces the launch of its open call for the Vol. III of its residency program Travesías Terremoto, titled Falling into Amphibious Land. Curated by Colombian artist, researcher, and educator Adriana Salazar Vélez, this edition positions water as material, metaphor, and the axis of multiple contemporary socio-environmental conflicts.
Falling into Amphibious Land positions artistic practices as resistance spaces and political imagination, capable of rehearsing other ways of relating to the living world. The residency invites Latin American and Caribbean artists to develop research processes that dialogue with the ecological, territorial, and political tensions intersecting the region.
The program takes place in Mompox, in the Colombian Caribbean, one of the main historical ports on the Magdalena River. Within this territory, the project understands water as a multiple flow in constant relation with the land, and recognizes the river as a body that produces knowledge. In this context, the project understands the river not merely as a resource, but as a living body that produces knowledge and shapes forms of existence.
Travesías Terremoto is a nomadic research residency program for Latin American and Caribbean artists, which seeks to reflect on the tensions, memories, and imaginaries that traverse the Americas. Conceived as a traveling platform, each edition unfolds in a different territory of the Americas, building a specific line of research based on the landscape and its socio-political realities. The program is funded and includes a research trip, a production grant, a collective exhibition, and a printed publication.
