This fall, we celebrate and center the work of artists through exhibitions, artist residencies, talks, publications, film screenings, and gatherings with an emphasis on community, collectivity, and making.
Exhibitions Caguiat Delacruz: The Tramp and Alexandre Estrela: RedSkyFalls are on view in the galleries through November 21.
Artist collective CFGNY is in residence at the Wattis! CFGNY's research-based practice takes the form of image making, installation, sculpture, garment making, and performance to expand ideas of racialization and subjectivity. Founded in 2016, the collective continually returns to the term “vaguely Asian”: an understanding of racial identity as a specific cultural experience that includes being perceived as other. CFGNY is currently composed of Daniel Chew, Ten Izu, and Tin Nguyen.

Leaving out the Luminaries: Students, collaboration, and the farm at Black Mountain College

Learn about the role of food and community within artistic practice and arts education with David Silver, author of The Farm at Black Mountain College. Silver sets aside the Black Mountain College luminaries, following renegade students, faculty, and farmers. We will gather for a communal meal after the talk.
Thinking through Film: Selections from the Kramlich

Join us at the historic Roxie Theater in the Mission for a special evening centering film and video works from the Kramlich Collection that have inspired our work and research for the year ahead. Co-organized by the Wattis and the Kramlich Collection.
