Focusing on tech art talent cultivation and global development trends
On Friday, October 16, Kong Zong Cultural Base (C-LAB) will be hosting the 2026 Trans-dimensional Technology and Art Forum at the CREATORS' Space Coworking Space, bringing tech art experts to Taiwan for international exchange. Part of the "Skyward 2026" festival series, the Forum highlights C-LAB’s activities in tech art and contemporary creative practice. The C-LAB-organized event aligns with the Industrial Technology Research Institute’s (ITRI) Future Art & Technology Salon in a dual-track initiative.
Two core themes: New directions in talent cultivation and global institutional trends
The 2026 Trans-dimensional Technology and Art Forum consists of a morning and an afternoon session. The morning session, titled "Current Status and Future Outlook of Talent Cultivation in Tech Art Education in the New Technological Era", is moderated by Prof. Chun-Cheng HSU of the Institute of Applied Arts at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, bringing together local and international specialists in tech art education and research. Vincent RIOUX, Head of Digital Platforms at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, will share how this historic academy balances fast-evolving digital tools with analog traditions and collective experience, highlighting pedagogical practices in live coding and multi-scale interdisciplinary integration. Pasiphaé LECLÈRE, researcher at the 1P1 Lab at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), will present her latest work in extended reality (XR) and virtual reality (VR) narratives, as well as experimental and educational outreach in digital aesthetics. LIM Kok Yoong, Associate Professor at the School of Communication & Design at RMIT University Vietnam, will explore how digital technologies can reshape presence and cultural sustainability.
The afternoon session, titled "Trends and New Challenges in the Curatorial Planning of Tech Art", is moderated by Prof. Yu-Chuan TSENG of the Graduate Institute of Interdisciplinary Art and Technology at National Tsing Hua University, focusing on international institutional governance and contemporary cross-disciplinary practice. Gunalan NADARAJAN, Professor at the Stamps School of Art & Design, University of Michigan, will present a curatorial project spanning Southeast Asia that reconsiders human-technology relationships, exploring how regional cultural contexts across Asia repurpose and demystify the "black boxes" of technology. Christl BAUR, Festival Director and Head of Programme at Ars Electronica, will draw on the festival's core ethos of "Art, Technology, and Society" to discuss how art can serve as a space of negotiation amid AI-driven technological change, inviting us to reexamine what drives technological development and what it means to be human. Edu MENESES, Research Director at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) in Canada, will share the center's thirty years of experience in immersive environments, cross-disciplinary R&D, and tool development. Yi-Chih HUANG, Director of the C-LAB Technology Media Platform, will outline Taiwan’s recent progress in advancing tech art, offering practical insights into talent cultivation, interdisciplinary execution, and international collaboration.
A dual-track international tech art event, ushering in a new era for tech art in Taiwan
The Forum partners with ITRI’s Future Art & Technology Salon to highlight the breadth of Taiwan’s tech art landscape from an international perspective. Marking the public reopening of the C-LAB campus, the 2026 Trans-dimensional Technology and Art Forum builds upon these technological insights by examining institutional trends and contemporary tech art education around the world, interlacing cross-border perspectives, disciplines, and institutions to reflect on emerging challenges and future horizons.
Free admission with open registration
The 2026 Trans-dimensional Technology and Art Forum is free and open to the public, with a morning session from 9:20 to 12:10 and an afternoon session from 14:00 to 16:40. Simultaneous Chinese–English interpretation will be provided. Registration is available free of charge on ACCUPASS on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to 150 seats.
