Supermarket—Stockholm Independent Art Fair invites artist-run galleries, project spaces, collectives and other independent art initiatives from around the world to apply for its 2027 edition.
Supermarket is an international art fair dedicated to the artist-run art scene. Founded in Stockholm in 2006, it has developed into a meeting place for artist-run initiatives from across the world, combining exhibitions with talks, performance, meetings and networking.
Rather than focusing primarily on sales, Supermarket values artistic exchange and creating sustainable connections. Participating initiatives present their own exhibitions and programmes while taking part in an international gathering of artists and curators working in the artist-run sector.
We welcome applications from artist-run initiatives of different forms, scales and backgrounds. Applying organisations should have an ongoing artistic or public programme and regularly present the work of artists other than those who run the initiative.
Applications from individual artists are not accepted.
Supermarket 2027 theme: “Myths and Echoes”
Stories, beliefs and images recur across different times and cultures—changing as they are retold.
“Myths and Echoes” looks at the archetypal ideas and narratives that shape our cultures and at how they continue to resonate in the present. Myths and legends function as shared references, but they also create identities, offer meaning, explain the world or legitimise power. They combine history with magic and imagination and form our view of the universe. Echoes opens up questions of how stories, symbols and concepts return, shift and acquire new meanings in different contexts.
The theme provides a framework for Supermarket 2027 and its public and editorial programmes. Exhibitors are welcome to respond to the theme in their proposals, but are not required to do so.

We offer four different options to participate:
Large exhibition stand, minimum 12 sqm / Small exhibition stand, minimum 6 sqm / Presentation stand, minimum 2 sqm, suitable for independent publications, zines or text-based projects / Meetings Expanded, for individual participation in a networking programme by representatives of artist-run initiatives, curators, organisers and cultural workers
