November 9–10, 2026
Bringing leading voices in socially and ecologically responsible architecture together in Amsterdam.
Ammodo Architecture announces the inaugural edition of the Ammodo Architecture Days, a recurring event of Ammodo Architecture, a programme of the Ammodo Foundation dedicated to advancing socially and ecologically responsible architecture worldwide. Taking place at Westergas in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on November 9 and 10, 2026, the invitation-only event brings together internationally renowned architects and leading practitioners with recipients of the Ammodo Architecture Award 2024 and 2025 to share knowledge, experiences, ideas and challenges. The gathering will include architects, landscape architects, urban planners, artists, communities, collectives and multidisciplinary design teams. Through a symposium, exhibition, publication launch and ceremony, the event creates space for dialogue across disciplines and contexts, serving as a platform for exploring new directions in social and ecological architecture.
Shared challenges, shared solutions
More than a meeting of experts, Ammodo Architecture Days is designed as a platform where ideas from around the world are tested and new perspectives take shape. By connecting practitioners across diverse cultural and geographic contexts, scales and disciplines, the programme creates space to share best practices, tools, methods and processes, including successes, failures and lessons learned, while exploring how local architectural knowledge can bring relevant solutions and advance new standards for community-focused and environmental architecture. Taking place at Westergas, where Ammodo Architecture is based, the event unfolds at a former industrial site that has been transformed into one of Europe's most celebrated examples of urban regeneration. Ammodo Architecture Days is centred around six interconnected themes and is exemplified by 49 awarded projects that demonstrate how local knowledge, collective action, resourcefulness and imagination can bring relevant responses to social and ecological challenges, creating resilient futures while strengthening identity, collective wellbeing and agency. The six themes are: Reclaim, Heritage, Urban Acupuncture, Rebalance, Mastering Material and Reuse.
The themes are illustrated by projects from the first two winning cohorts of the Ammodo Architecture Award, including Machan_Korail Community Platform by Paraa (Bangladesh), a community-led social and cultural space transforming a former dumping ground in one of Dhaka’s largest low-income settlements; VinziRast am Land by gaupenraub+/- (Austria), which transforms a former luxury hotel into an inclusive residential and working community for people on the margins of society; and Sustainable Alleys by RAMA estudio (Ecuador), a neighbourhood-scale pilot that reimagines Quito’s alleys as greener, safer and more socially connected public spaces, among others.
Ammodo Architecture Days: a four-part programme
The symposium The symposium brings together award recipients, members of the Ammodo Architecture Advisory Committee, ambassadors and international experts for a day of lectures, conversations and workshops. Contributors include Andrés Jaque, Anupama Kundoo, Floris Alkemade, Loreta Castro Reguera, and Aric Chen. The symposium takes place on November 10, 2026 and is by invitation only.

The publication A new publication accompanying the Ammodo Architecture Days, published by Hatje Cantz, brings together essays by leading contributors alongside in-depth analysis of the awarded projects. Order from Hatje Cantz.
The award ceremony The ceremony celebrates the recipients of the 2024 and 2025 Ammodo Architecture Award. The award itself is designed by Atelier NL.
Voices from Ammodo Architecture Days
“When architecture is viewed through a social and ecological lens, an extraordinary field of possibilities comes into view—across continents, cultures and scales of practice. We see Ammodo Architecture Days as a catalyst for these possibilities: a platform where ideas, conversations and new ways of practising architecture can come together.” —Marleen van Driel, Director, Ammodo Architecture
