MFA in Fine Arts
Choosing where to pursue your Master of Fine Arts program is about more than just a curriculum. It’s about the community and mentors who will shape your trajectory as an artist, a creative thinker, and a maker. In Parsons’ MFA Fine Arts program, you’ll find a faculty of distinguished practitioners who are at the forefront of contemporary art. Our instructors are recipients of Guggenheim Awards and Creative Capital Awards—to name just a few—and are included in major art fairs and events, including the most recent Venice Biennale. When you join our program, you enter a rigorous arts environment of peers led by renowned professionals in the field.

Why Parsons MFA Fine Arts?
Parsons’ #1 ranking among U.S. arts and design schools and its number three global rank reflects the quality of our programs and the prestige of our faculty and alumni (QS rankings). Our MFA is designed for artists who use their chosen medium to engage with the world. By working alongside our esteemed faculty, you will:

Receive personalized mentorship. Expand and refine your practice through studio visits and group critiques from award-winning professionals active in the international art scene.

Engage in critical discourse. Participate in high-level seminars that challenge your intellectual and creative boundaries.

Join a global network: Access New York City’s dynamic arts community and build connections that last a lifetime.

These information sessions will be led by Parsons MFA Fine Arts program director Jonah Groeneboer. Groenboer is a multidisciplinary artist and writer and an assistant professor of fine arts at Parsons. His work on the politics of representation and abstraction and their connections to forms of visibility, legibility, and comprehension provides students with a critical framework for understanding the political stakes of their own practice within the field of visual art.
