Join the Department of Architecture within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (MADA) as an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department, contributing to excellence in education, research, creative practice and engagement.
Working closely with the Head of Department, you will provide academic leadership, support staff development and coordinate the people, processes and resources needed to deliver strategic priorities. This is an opportunity for an accomplished architectural academic or practitioner with strong organisational judgement, a collaborative approach and a commitment to strengthening departmental culture and performance.

Responsibilities include academic workload and staffing plans, teaching resources and space planning, assessment, moderation, program review and professional accreditation.
You will foster research and creative-practice excellence through collaboration, mentoring, postgraduate supervision and external partnerships. You will also support staff career development, workload equity and complex staff and student matters through appropriate University processes.
As Deputy Head, you will implement departmental strategy, contribute to budget and resource planning, represent the Department when delegated and act on behalf of the Head under approved arrangements. You will maintain a significant contribution to teaching, research and disciplinary practice appropriate to a Level D appointment.
The successful candidate will hold a doctoral qualification in architecture or a relevant discipline, or have recognised significant professional experience and standing in architecture or the built environment. You will demonstrate scholarly, creative-practice or professional achievement, teaching excellence, academic leadership, operational coordination and the ability to build consensus and implement change. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collegiality, inclusion and staff and student development are essential.
The continuing appointment will include the role of Deputy Head of Department for an initial period of up to three years, with the opportunity for renewal.
