Not New Now is curated by Reem Fadda and assistant curator Ilaria Conti. The central exhibition also includes curatorial interjections by Omar Berrada, who is curating Memory Games: Ahmed Bouanani Now, a multifarious engagement with the work and the archive of writer-filmmaker Ahmed Bouanani; and Salma Lahlou and Fatima-Zahra Lakrissa, who are curating a section on the avant-garde art movement, the Casablanca School.

The Biennale mainly spans across five historical locations in the medina of Marrakech: Koutoubia Mosque, Palais Badii, Palais Bahia, Dar Si Said, and Menara Pavilion. Simultaneously, a selection of Partner and Parallel Projects will be on view across the city.

About the Marrakech Biennale
Founded in 2004 to address social issues through the arts, the Marrakech Biennale is one of the leading biennials of Africa and the Arab world. For the first time, the 2016 Biennale presents its program free of charge, in an effort to welcome a wider public and reinforce the Biennale’s connection to Marrakech’s urban historical landscape. The Biennale is also on view for the first time over a prolonged period of 11 weeks, presenting each week a diverse program of events.
