The Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art was opened in July, 1993 in the rich greenery of the Senshugahara Furusato no Mori Park. Built on the Taiko collection, the museum displays Japanese works that show the evolution of modern art through the relationship of 19th century Japanese and western styles. We also hold a wide variety of lectures and workshops for visitors to connect with the art while simultaneously enjoying the nature of the four seasons.
