Started in 1939 by a group of 26 women as the Old York Road Art Guild, the Abington Art Center evolved into a non-profit art center in the 1960s. Since 1970, the Center has resided within Alverthorpe Manor, a former residence of Lessing J. Rosenwald. The art center features a studio school, an innovation center, exhibition galleries, and a sculpture park.
