In 1996, the Lucerne Exhibition Space Association founded the Art Panorama in the basement of the Bourbaki building. After a move and name change to Kunsthalle Luzern in 2008, the exhibition space settled back into the Bourbaki in 2011. Since its foundation, the Kunsthalle Luzern has set an example for diverse, contemporary art in an urban center, providing free access for the public to experience Swiss and international art today. With the BASIS documentation Center for Artists in central Switzerland, the Kunsthalle Luzern provides a repository of around 200 portfolios by artists from central Switzerland. The documentation center is open to the public and provides a picture of the current local art scene in its variety of artistic expressions.
