As a single-discipline college with a 250 year tradition of excellence in Art and Design education, NCAD offers students a unique opportunity to contribute to a creative community in the heart of Dublin’s historic Liberties. Ranked among the world’s top 100 universities for Art and Design (2016, QS University Rankings, World Wide by Subject), NCAD offers Ireland’s largest range of Art and Design programmes. Creative diversity and cultural engagement are fostered from first year undergraduate studies right through to postgraduate and research programmes.
NCAD’s city centre campus has been described as a mecca for Art and Design study and has long played a central role to developments in the arts in Ireland and internationally. The college houses the National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL)—Ireland’s most significant collection of documentation on influential Irish Artists—and has seen graduates represent Ireland in multiple international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale.
NCAD encourages critical thinking in artistic practice and aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge and ambition to flourish in their chosen discipline. Graduates are awarded a degree from University College Dublin (UCD) which is ranked among the top 1% of world universities.
