Launched in 2013, Residency For Artists On Hiatus (RFAOH) is a virtual residency designed for artists who, for various reasons, are not currently engaged in creating or presenting art. Operating solely through its website, the residency invites artists to propose activities—or non-activities—that reflect their "on-hiatus" state. Applicants must have previously developed an independent body of work and exhibited publicly. Selected artists are showcased on the RFAOH website, where they share periodic updates about their residency experiences. A modest stipend is provided to support their chosen hiatus activities, and at the end of the residency, participants submit a written report reflecting on how the opportunity influenced or benefited them.
