Housed within a tier-one research university located approximately 60 miles east of Atlanta, the Lamar Dodd School of Art is an impressive, nationally-ranked art school with state of the art facilities, housing internationally renown faculty dedicated to cross-disciplinary and medium specific approaches on UGA's main campus.
The Dodd also hosts the Athenaeum, UGA's non-collecting space for contemporary art, in the Downtown Athens district. The Athenaeum is dedicated to presenting the work of major artists in the field of contemporary art as well as centering under-recognized and emerging artists in the commission of new works and projects.
Dodd students are generously accommodated within a variety of dedicated studio and research spaces and form a tight knit, vibrant community enhanced by programming featuring artists and scholars who are both emerging and well established. Coursework at the Dodd is highly customizable and students benefit from the wide array of resources for study and collaboration within the state’s most comprehensive and diversified institution of higher education.
The Dodd offers generous, merit-based assistantships, as well as scholarships and research funds. We are committed to a diverse student body and practice a wide range of methodologies within the fields of Art, Design, Art History and Art Education. The Dodd will celebrate its Centennial from 2027-2028.
