The Municipal Gallery of Athens, also known as the City of Athens Art Gallery, is one of Greece’s most distinguished art institutions. Founded in 1914, it is dedicated to showcasing Greek art from the 19th century to the present day. Housed in a historic building designed by Christian Hansen, brother of Theophil Hansen, the renowned architect associated with Vienna’s Ringstrasse, the gallery also houses an impressive collection of works by modern artists.
