The School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) with highly regarded undergraduate and graduate fine arts programs. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks our Ceramics program in the top ten. Being part of a leading land-grant research university offers our students endless learning opportunities across the humanities and sciences.

The diversity of our educational programs, with international engagements around the world, including the Antiochia ad Cragum Archaeological Research Project in Turkey, provides extraordinary historical and cultural examinations. Our students work closely with nationally and internationally recognized faculty to advance knowledge and benefit from a world-class art collection at the Sheldon Museum of Art. Our relationship with the Office of Research, Center for Digital Research in Humanities, and new Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts offer our students the opportunity to develop the breadth of their ideas and examinations.

The $18 million Christina M. Hixson-Lied Foundation Trust Endowment for the College of Fine and Performing Arts, benefits all areas of the college, including the School of Art, Art History & Design, supporting faculty and students. Because of the Hixson-Lied Endowment, we provide unique opportunities for our students beyond the classroom, from traveling exhibitions, education abroad, two galleries, to scholarships and grants. For more than 80 years, the School of Art, Art History & Design has helped students to explore the fine arts through historical and societal conception and development, and learn to creatively and critically work through their thinking.
