The New York architect Richard Meier described Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, which opened in October 2004, as a “jewel in the park.” Along the famous Lichtentaler Allee, he created a unique architecture that is bathed in light, in which the interior and exterior, contemporary art and romantic park landscape are in constant dialogue.

Alternating exhibitions present either works from the Frieder Burda Collection or monographic and thematic special exhibitions. Thus, the house is the site of a lively and wide-ranging art discourse with high-caliber presentations on Emil Nolde, Gerhard Richter, Andreas Gursky, JR, James Turrell, or Katharina Grosse, for example.

The art studio of Museum Frieder Burda was established on the initiative of the museum founder and art collector Frieder Burda. He placed great importance on fostering and developing children’s and young people’s enthusiasm for art. In conjunction with numerous workshops, courses and guided tours for families, kindergartens and schools, the museum presents art in an accessible and enjoyable way based on direct experience. The studio emphasizes imagination, creativity and the possibilities of personal expression.
