The ALTEFABRIK is an interdisciplinary event venue that provides a platform and rehearsal space for art, literature, music, dance and theatre. The exhibition space in the former Gebert foundry covers approx. 500 m² and is run by the GEBERT STIFTUNG FÜR KULTUR*. Three to four exhibitions are held here each year, conceived and organised by the foundation's curator, Irene Grillo. The focus is on engaging with current world events and the targeted promotion of individual, young artistic positions. Every two years, the exhibition space is used for the KURATOR*IN project. The scholarship, which is linked to the foundation's activities, enables young curators to curate four exhibitions on an overarching theme. In addition, the Christa Gebert / Ambiente *DESIGNPREIS is awarded every two years as part of a specially designed exhibition.
