Founded in 1991, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a publicly-funded research intensive university with a founding mandate to help spur economic development in Hong Kong and the region. Within a short history of thirty years, HKUST has evolved into a world-class university enjoying significant international and local reputation in education and research. The University celebrates its international environment and an innovative culture, with special emphasis on research and postgraduate education.
HKUST(GZ), inaugurated in 2022, is a campus situated in Nansha District, Guangzhou, which is right in the center of the Greater Bay Area, one of the most vibrant and dynamic regions in the world, neighboring Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao.
HKUST (GZ) has established four transdisciplinary hubs and 16 thrust areas to achieve maximum synergy in education and research. Among these is the Computational Media and Arts (CMA) Thrust Area. Composed of faculty members and students from diverse backgrounds, CMA promotes the interplay of media arts, technology, and research and exploits the most advanced technologies for creativity with a social impact.
