Villa Lontana is an independent project space focusing on ancient and contemporary practices in both visual arts and sound. The project initiated in 2018 from the archaeological collection of the Santarelli Foundation, developing a layered archaeology which encompasses exhibitions, publications, screenings, artist editions and sound projects through the label Villa Lontana Records. Villa Lontana's programming takes place between a brutalist garage and the Italian garden of an 18th-century villa in the north of Rome, as well as regular collaborations with Italian and international institutions. Founded in 2018 by Vittoria Bonifati in collaboration with Jo Melvin.
Villa Lontana Records focuses on archival and unreleased material from the avant-garde electronic scene and contemporary sound-art. The label is run by Vittoria Bonifati and Michele Ferrari.
