Jeonnam Museum of Art is a public art museum located in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, opened on March 22, 2021. It seeks to reexamine the art history of the Jeollanam-do region, long known as a “home of the arts,” and to explore its evolving role within the context of contemporary art.
Located on the former site of Gwangyang Station, the museum functions as a cultural platform. It connects the legacy of Jeonnam art with contemporary artistic practices, creating points of encounter across diverse artistic currents. Through exhibitions and research, it fosters a space where different perspectives intersect, while serving as an open platform linking art and the local community.
The basement level includes approximately 7,725 square meters of exhibition space, along with a children’s atelier and storage facilities. Above ground, the museum offers a lobby, cafe, auditorium, library, archive room, and a gallery dedicated to donated artworks. The museum also operates an annex, the Asan Jobangwon Art Museum, located in Okgwa-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, which is scheduled to reopen in late 2026.
